Mella 1809 has always prided itself in its approach of focusing on human-made illustrations. Which delivers a personal and more emotional cleaning experience. This is how we deliver a superior and luxury cleaning experience never before seen in the market.
We’d like to credit the creators who have collaborated with our brand in order to bring the Mella 1809 world to life.
We recently sat down with our two in-house illustrators: Calesta and Liam Who are part of the distinct visual identity of the brand and everything we do.
On what hand-drawn takes
Calesta describes her favourite part of the job as the part nobody sees: 'doing research and then sketching out what I've imagined'. Days of it, before a single line is committed.

On Calesta
Calesta is an illustrator from Hong Kong, based in London.
What drew her in was the uniqueness of the brief. 'It's about the storytelling', she told us, 'and the narrative between home care products and cherubs'. It is rare, she pointed out, to see that kind of narrative illustration applied to — and we quote —''cause I hate cleaning myself'.
Her research runs deep. For Hemming Street she went to the street itself: a road known for textiles, so the scene became tailors, washing lines and shopfronts, with the mascot flying about above it all. For Rue Du Dragon she went bigger. 'We wanted to create an epic scene', she said, before filling a French street with the art and history it already had.
